This is a fabulous book for GF/DF bakers, old and new. I especially like that the author uses a good variety of ingredients. In some recipe books of this genre, the recipe authors rely heavily on a small amount of ingredients, which depletes pantry supplies rather quickly. Our family just went GF/DF to help our boys get the best results from an occupational and developmental program to help them manage sensory processing issues. Every dish we have made, our family has eaten right up. We especially love the brownie recipe! Heidi Baker's recipes have gone through many taste tests, essential for the lasting success of any cook book. I do not have a problem with gluten or dairy products myself, but sympathize with those who do. My enthusiasm over Heidi's baking recipes is based on taste alone. I know that her recipes produce delicious baked goods that anyone would enjoy.
I don't have a gluten problem but have many friends and family members who do. This book comes at a great time of year. I plan to try many of the recipes at Thanksgiving. It is tremendously helpful that Heidi names the product to be used in her recipes and where it can be bought. Thank you for trying these recipes and documenting them for us all; this is a great contribution to modern cooking. )
I have eaten goodies made from the recipes in this cookbook, and they are really good. Healthy food often has the reputation of being a little stilted in flavor and texture, but not these. They are moist and full of traditional flavor. My favorite is the Almond Butter Brownies. I hope to have some tonight!
I love this cookbook! It offers recipes for gluten-free treats that are delicious and not that hard to make. So people like me who are trying to eliminate gluten can still enjoy the occasional muffin, home-baked bread, or birthday cake and it's just as good - if not better - than the wheat version. Love it!
This is an amazing book!! I love how Heidi has given us the basics... basic cake and frosting, basic cookie, and basic bread... and then much more!!! She also includes some variations of those basics to get your own imagination moving. I am so glad to have a handy collection of foundational recipes I know I will call on again and again. These are great recipes to bring to family gatherings, for birthdays and holidays. What's even better is that everyone (including me who is gluten intolerant) can enjoy these treats together. I can not wait to try each and every one!!
